Spoilers: Roy to the rescue as Shona is badly injured in Corrie

by

Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is a constant hero in Coronation Street and as a bewildered Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) finds herself overwhelmed in the Platt household, unable to recognise anyone, she wanders off.

Shona is hoping that walking round the Street will jog some of her memories – and something leads to her seeking refuge outside the café. Roy calmly heads out – and is there for Shona in a non-threatening or imposing way.

Julia told Metro.co.uk: ‘We know Shona and Roy had a great friendship and she bolts out of the Platt house when she goes to visit – it’s too overwhelming. She has a look around to try and jog her memory – she ends up at the back of Roy’s and he finds her.

‘He knows it’s Shona and what she’s suffering with so he invites her in for a cup of tea and a cookie. And she warms to this new guy who’s warm and a little odd. Is there something there inherent that she knows Roy is ok or does she think he is a bit of a weirdo? He’s very unthreatening.

‘Everyone is feeding her so much information but Roy is gentle with her and he doesn’t barge in and say “I’m Roy, you know me!” and lets her find her own way. That’s really important in her development and her overcoming this.’

Roy invites Shona to move in and offers to show her and Alice around his flat. But when the buzzer sounds on the oven, Shona gets up and before anyone can stop her, reaches inside with her bare hands. As Shona cries out in pain, Roy and Nina exchange worried glances.

However, Shona remains adamant that she trusts Roy and wants to stay with him – leaving David wondering if he will ever be able to win his wife back.
