Biden Claims Charlamagne 'Baited' Him Into Making Controversial Comments

Former Vice President Joe Biden shifted the blame for his controversial comments during a radio interview on “The Breakfast Club” with Charlamagne Tha God last week. Biden received backlash for telling African-American voters that if they had to consider voting for anyone but the former vice president, they “ain’t black.” 

“If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black," the presumptive Democratic nominee said.

In a mode of true crisis-management, Biden’s campaign first claimed that the “ain’t black” comments, which were rightfully condemned by Republicans and Democrats as racist, were just a joke. The campaign knew that such self-righteous, elitist commentary from the former vice president was too severe to write-off as an infamous Biden gaffe. After the campaign’s spin, though, Biden himself apologized for the comments, telling supporters that he should not have been such a “wise guy.” These two responses left Biden’s intentions unclear.

A week after the controversial sentiment from Biden, the former vice president remains apologetic, but is now claiming that Charlamagne “baited” him into saying something controversial:

No one but Biden is responsible for such comments other than the former vice president himself. Indeed, the presumptive Democratic nominee does not own the black vote, and such elitist rhetoric is exactly what voters rejected at the ballot box in the 2016 election.
