Anantapur: BC Welfare Minister M Sankara Narayana stated that the state government is planning to further strengthen the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSME) by releasing all the backlog due payments to them for the past 5 years. He stated that the government has released Rs.905 crore for the entire state and the district industries received its share of Rs.82 crore for the MSME sector.

Similarly, the government released Rs.4,600 crore fee reimbursement dues to the educational institutions, released Rs.10,000 for the Auto drivers welfare and Rs.24,000 to the weavers families.

Speaking at a review meeting here on Friday, in which MPs Talari Rangaiah and Gorantla Madhav participated, Narayana stated that due to the district's proximity with the Bengaluru international airport, many industries are coming and the Veera Vahana group is now establishing its unit in Penukonda for manufacturing electrical buses.

Government Whip Kapu Ramachandra Reddy said that the proposed Textile Park in Hindupur is yet to become operational as only five of the 55 sanctioned units were started.

District Collector Gandham Chandrudu said that in countries abroad the practice of gathering people's opinion on various subjects is in vogue as it ensures transparency in the affairs of government.

MP Talari Rangaiah said that of the 22 lakh crore incentives announced by the central government, Rs.3 lakh crore are for the MSME sector. The officials should pass on the benefits to the MSME sector. Provision was made for the housing for migrant labourers working in the MSME sector. Agro-industries should be set up with the central assistance, he felt.

Madakasira MLA Tippe Swamy thanked the Chief Minister for paying compensation for farmers for the lands acquired from them for industries. Puttaparthu MLA Sridhar Reddy asked the government to make water allocations to new industries.

District Industries Centre general manager Sudarshan Babu said that 18 mega industries had been set up with an investment of Rs.11.915.5 crore providing employment to 11,964 persons. Also 364 MSME units have been set up in the district at an investment of Rs 113.84 crores providing jobs to 3,220 persons.
