This is a huge improvement over its bland-looking predecessor.

With the Buick LaCrosse and Buick Regal discontinued, Buick is now focusing exclusively on the lucrative crossover segment. Buick wasted no time expanding its crossover lineup by launching the Encore GX. Now, Buick has given us a first look at the all-new 2021 Envision. From the photos released by the automaker, the design looks a lot more stylish than its bland predecessor, which has been on sale in the US since 2016.

"The all-new 2021 Envision is part of Buick's strategy to grow its family of premium SUVs," said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global Buick and GMC. "It joins the new 2020 Encore GX, which offers safety, functionality and styling tailored around the size and space preferences of today's small and compact SUV buyers."

Compared to the current model, the 2021 Buick Envision is lower and wider, and sports a larger grille and slim headlights and taillights. Buick says the striking styling is "designed to combine the expressiveness of a car with the practicality of an SUV." For the first time, Buick's luxurious Avenir trim will also be available on the 2021 Envision.

It's not just the exterior that's been overhauled either, as the 2021 Envision will be Buick's first model that will be available with a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Spotify, Pandora and Fox Sports app support. Power will be provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine paired with a nine-speed transmission. This will likely be the same powertrain used in the Cadillac XT4 that produces 237 hp an 258 lb-ft of torque.

Standard active safety assists will include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, rear park assist, safety alert seat, and HD rear vision camera. Buick will also offer an enhanced automatic parking assist, HD surround vision, front park assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, head-up display, and a rear camera mirror.

Buick will reveal more details about the redesigned crossover later this year before the 2021 Envision arrives in dealers early next year.
