The latest creation from Nike‘s familial design duo of Tobie and Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 90 FlyEase is an inclusive, adaptive lifestyle design that’s all about ease of entry and removal. It first debuted around Air Max Day 2020, and has since released in a handful of vibrant styles — the latest of which is a patriotic white, blue and red.

Almost all of the design pieces from the original Air Max 90 are left intact. Toeboxes and quarters are dressed in white mesh and leather, respectively, while plastic eyestays are split between navy and red. Tongues continue the navy and red mixture, while blue mudguards and red Swooshes provide signature Nike Sportswear flair. For a finishing touch, the heel’s recognizable Air Max unit is surrounded by red EVA foam.

Although the front and middle are both familiar, the heel is vastly different. Its FlyEase tech consists of a stretchy navy neoprene-like material surrounded by two flexible white plastic “jaws,” and is branded with a FlyEase text hit To put a foot in the shoe, all you need to do is step on the top jaw, pushing it down, and slide your foot in. When your foot is safely ensconced, the heel will snap back into place. Removal is just as simple: the wearer just needs to push down the heel and take their foot out.

This summer-ready Air Max 90 Flyease in white, blue and red is available now via the Nike Japan webstore. The MSRP is set at $120 USD.
