Lady Gaga postpones Chromatica listening party after George Floyd's death

by

Lady Gaga has postponed her Chromatica listening party to encourage fans to ‘raise your voice’ after George Floyd’s death.

The singer has released her highly-anticipated album, but told fans the listening session would not be taking place, after Floyd was killed after being arrested.

She wrote: ‘As much as I want to listen to Chromatica together as a global group of kindness punks right now, our kindness is needed for the world today.

‘I’m going to postpone our listening session right now and encourage you all to take this time to register to vote and raise your voice.

‘I’m so glad the album is bringing you some joy, because that’s what I always wanted it to do. We’ll reschedule this very soon.’

Fans have supported the move, with one writing: ‘Thank you, we understand. Black lives matter.’

Police officer Derek Chauvin has now been arrested, after footage showed him kneeling on Floyd’s neck before he died.

And Gaga’s not the only star to be speaking out after his death, with Cardi B writing: ‘Enough is enough! What will it take ? A civil war ? A new president? Violent riots ? It’s tired ! I’m tired !

‘The country is tired !You don’t put fear in people when you do this you just show how coward YOU ARE ! And how America is really not the land of the free ! [sic]’.

Snoop Dogg shared a meme of former NFL player and activist Colin Kaepernick bending the knee alongside the officer kneeling on George, and simply wrote: ‘No justice just us.’

Singer Justin Bieber hailed the incident an act of sheer racism and reshared the video while writing: ‘THIS MUST STOP.  This makes me absolutely sick. This makes me angry this man DIED. This makes me sad. Racism is evil We need to use our voice! Please people. I’m sorry GEORGE FLOYD.’
