According to Pixel Buds' support forums, numerous users are reporting connectivity issues with their Pixel Buds 2 earbuds. The reports, some of which are as recent as today, include devices with firmware versions ranging from 225 to the latest 295 release. Moreover, users with phones from different manufacturers are reporting this issue. These issues have been reported since the earbuds first started shipping, and it seems firmware updates haven't fixed the issue.

The Bluetooth performance of the earbuds seems to be hindered, with many users complaining that audio cuts out at random instances from both earbuds for a few seconds. Other users complain that a specific earbud stops functioning when covered by a hand, or when the user turns their head in that direction. The issue reportedly seems to be more noticeable when users are outdoors than indoors.

Android Police reports that some users have been able to fix the issue by unpairing and re-pairing the buds with their devices. However, there is no obvious fix available. Earlier this month, Google stated its plans to roll out "feature drops" for the earbuds just like it does for its Pixel phones from time to time. If your Pixel Buds are also experiencing connectivity problems, you can try contacting Google support for a hardware exchange.
