Khammam: Erstwhile Khammam district had witnessed first Covid-19 death in Madhira town on Friday.

A 65-year-old businessman of Madhira, who was suffering with bone cancer, died on Friday at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

According to information, the deceased suffering with bone cancer has been getting treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad every month for the past 10 years.

Likewise, he went to a private hospital in Hyderabad on May 1 for treatment. While he was undergoing treatment, doctors noticed that he was suffering with fever and sent his blood samples for testing. The report confirmed that he was corona positive on Wednesday.

He was shifted to Gandhi Hospital immediately but died on Friday while undergoing treatment. He had wife and two sons. Pasha, sone of the deceased, said that they took permission from the officials concerned to shift the body to their native place. But not yet decided where to cremate, he added.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr B Malathi said that they were informed of a 65-year-old man died of coronavirus, who was suffering with cancer.
