Blantyre man rushed to hospital with head injury after hit-and-run as cops hunt driver
by Ewan PatonA MAN was rushed to hospital earlier today after falling victim to a hit and run in Blantyre.
Police are appealing for information after a 47-year-old male was knocked down by a motor at Anderson Gardens, near Station Road in the area.
The incident occurred at just after 7.30am this morning - with the man being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
It is believed that the force sealed the street off as forensics conducted their work.
And cops say that their enquiries are ongoing to discover the whereabouts of the vehicle and those inside.
Detective Sergeant Laura Sands, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “Around 7.40am on Friday, May 29, officers were called to Anderson Gardens, Blantyre after a 47-year-old man was struck by a car.
"The car failed to stop and enquiries are ongoing to trace both the vehicle and its occupants.
"The injured man has been taken to hospital where he is being treated for a head injury.
"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information which could assist our investigation should contact police on 101, quoting incident 0786 of 29 May, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
Meanwhile, cops in Ayrshire are also appealing for witnesses following a shocking armed robbery in a seaside-town.
A teenager was held at knife point as two thugs stole his bike as well as his CAR in Largs.
The incident happened around 12.30am on Friday, May 29 on Nelson Street.
A 17-year-old boy was with his dog as he was threatened with a knife and the suspects then stole his bike and his car - a white Suzuki Alto with the registration NA10 FGV.
