‘Will Take You To Court’: ISKCON To Take Legal Action Against Amazon Prime For Showing Monks In Bad Light
by Swarajya StaffISKCON has now given a notice to video streaming website Amazon Prime asking it to remove the web series Hostel Daze from its catalogue for portraying its monks in a poor light.
ISKCON’s spokesperson Radharamn Das called the portrayal highly objectionable and promised to take Amazon Prime to court.
Das also shared a video clipping from Season 1 Episode 2 of Hostel Daze where one of the character is being berated for not choosing a good college club with taunts like, “you should have rather grown a ponytail and joined ISKCON instead”.
Das said that ISKCON has thousands of very qualified monks who have degrees from prestigious Universities like IITs who have dedicated their life to serve humanity. He added that legal action will be taken against Amazon.
ISKCON had earlier filed a complaint against Shemaroo for a ‘stand-up comedy’ act by ‘comedian’ Surleen Kaur who said, “Beshak hum sab ISKCON waley hain, par andar sey sun harami porn waley hain…”.
A statement by ISKCON has claimed that it will not be pursuing the case anymore after having received an unconditional apology. This though has been denied by Das who has hinted that the case will continue.
