'Pathetic': Burgess Owens rips Taylor Swift for accusing Trump of pushing white supremacy following George Floyd death

Former NFL player Burgess Owens pushed back against singer Taylor Swift after she criticized President Trump for denouncing looting and rioting following the death of George Floyd.

“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?” Swift tweeted at Trump. "'When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump.”

Owens responded by calling Swift’s position a “pathetic” and “false” narrative.

“Let me make this clear. @realDonaldTrump has not been 'stoking the fires of white supremacy' those of us who actually KNOW what white supremacists are realize he's done the opposite,” the Super Bowl champion and NFL Pro Bowler responded. “It's PATHETIC how hard they've pushed this false narrative. It needs to stop.”

Riots and looting have broken out in Minneapolis following the death of Floyd while in police custody.

Four police officers involved in the arrest were fired, and the officer shown on video kneeling on the neck of Floyd while onlookers urged him to stop was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter on Friday.
