The 29-year-old’s existing deal is set to run until June next year, having signed on the dotted lines for three years when he joined from Bidvest Wits in 2018.

The Randfontein-born player has been in rich vein of form and been an integral part of coach Josef Zinnbauer’s squad this season, prior to the PSL break, and Pirates are expected to exercise the option on his deal once his current deal expires.

As reported in edition 1175 of Soccer Laduma, the player’s representative Palesa Mkhize confirmed that the central midfielder is in long-term plans for the Soweto giants.

“Ben has a long-term contract with the club. There has been no need for any negotiations with the club, because he has a long-term contract. You must remember that he signed a three-year contract, so he’s got another season to go,” Mkhize told the Siya crew.

“Also, he’s got an option, so it’s (the deal) not going to end soon. He’s an asset to the club as he has been playing well. He’s going nowhere, he is a Pirates player,” Mkhize confirmed.
