Love Island's Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott have 'split up after drifting apart'

Love Island stars Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott have ‘split up after spending three months apart’ during the national lockdown.

The couple – who met on the winter season of the ITV2 series – have apparently ‘drifted apart’ due to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘It’s no huge drama – they’re just better off as friends,’ a source told The Sun. ‘They had a good run but they have split for good.’

Demi, 21, and Luke, 25, coupled up when Nas dumped Demi for Eva in Casa Amor and came in third place.

The source added: ‘There’s been no cheating or drama they just drifted apart – he’s looking forward to lockdown being over and making the most of his new single status.’

Earlier this month, the Justin Bieber lookalike insisted they were still going strong during an interview with Metro.co.uk.

Fans were worried for their relationship as they noticed they are isolating separately during lockdown and haven’t been interacting as much online.

Luke – who is quarantining with his brother and his family – told us at the time: ‘We saw each other quite a lot after the villa, we were doing events and I was going to London quite a lot.

‘We haven’t seen each other for quite a while now, which is hard. I think a lot of relationships are finding it hard. But we still talk and we still FaceTime and stuff, so it’s not like we’re not in contact at all.

‘We still contact each other all the time, and support each other. So it’s going good.’

When asked if they had moved things up a notch, Luke continued: ‘So we’re not like boyfriend or girlfriend, no.’

Laughing, he added: ’We’re in lockdown… I don’t think you can make someone your girlfriend….

‘We saw each a couple of times before lockdown. I think we’re going to wait and then meet up straightaway after, and go from there.’
