Larijani Named as Leader’s Advisor

by

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed former parliament speaker, Ali Larijani, as his advisor and member of Expediency Council.  "Given the useful experiences that you gained during your directorship in various sectors, especially while serving as speaker of the Majlis for three terms, I appoint you as the Leader's advisor and a member of Expediency Council," he wrote in the appointment letter, Leader.ir reported.   The Expediency Council is responsible for resolving differences or conflicts between the parliament and Guardians Council, but also assumes an advisory role to the Leader. Larijani left his position as Majlis speaker after 12 years (2008-20) before the new elected parliamentarians took their seats on Wednesday.  He had also served as a commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, deputy labor minister, deputy minister of information and communications technology, head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting and secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
