Anderson Silva opens as slight betting favorite over Conor McGregor in hypothetical bout

It took just one day for bookmakers to release the odds for the hypothetical catchweight bout between Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor after both men agreed to the matchup on Thursday.

Oddsmakers Bovada have Silva, the former UFC middleweight champion, listed as the -125 favorite while McGregor, the former UFC lightweight and featherweight titleholder, is listed as the slight underdog at -105. ‘A $100 bet would net $80 for Silva and $95.20 for McGregor’, per MMA Fighting.

Silva, who turned 45 last month, is the oldest fighter on the UFC roster and just 1-6 (1 NC) in his last eight fights. ‘The Spider’ last fought at UFC 237, where he suffered a leg kick TKO loss to Jared Cannonier. Despite his recent string of losses, Silva is still a dangerous fighter and widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all-time.

As for McGregor, the SBG Ireland standout is looking to get back in the Octagon asap following his 40-second TKO win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. The No. 8-ranked pound-for-pound fighter is 4-2 in his last six fights.
