5 positive things happening right now

From a community group helping cocooners, to a new take on an iconic song for charity, here are five positive things happening now:

1) The iconic Eleanor McEvoy song 'A Woman's Heart' has been given a new charitable twist. The musician teamed up with 23 drag queens and kings for a special performance of the song in aid of Age Action Ireland. Funds raised through the project will help to support Age Action's work with older people around Ireland.

2) Another piece of musical positivity comes from the RTÉ Concert Orchestra's David Kenny, who transcribed Josef Rheinberger's Abendlied to be played on six violas. He then recorded himself playing each part and the result is stunning.

3) A new initiative by the Kildare Tidy Towns group has seen cocooners in the area receive baskets with herbs to grow and use at home while isolating. Each basket contains parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. The group will also be sharing video demonstrations with ideas on how best to use the herbs.

4) In Galway, GMIT staff member Kelly Roberts has been making hundreds of reusable face coverings for nursing homes. The hundreds of coverings have been made in her spare time between providing technical support to GMIT students and homeschooling her own two children.

5) And finally, students at Coláiste Íosagáin in Portarlington, Co Laois, have put together a video where they reflect on the things they miss about school. From 'lunch with the lads' to 'community spirit' and 'laughs with friends' each student brought their own personal touch to their part of the video.
