The Pixel 4a has been frequenting the rumor mill for the past few months. As usual in the Pixel series, it also has been a target of multiple leaks. Now, its launch is rumored to go during Google’s next event for the announcement of Android 11. At first, reports indicated that just like the last year, we would have a Pixel 4a and 4a XL. However, the lack of consistent proof confirmed the fact that this year, the search giant won’t be launching a Pixel 4a XL. However, this doesn’t mean that they weren’t developing one before the decision of killing it.

Apparently, Google intended to launch the Pixel 4a series with an XL model. One month ago, a leak surfaced showing a replacement back cover for the Pixel 4a XL on eBay. It was a prototype unit due to the lack of Google’s traditional G logo. Now, new images are here to give us a good glimpse of that handset’s back.

Looking at the above images, we can see that the handset would clearly stick with the new design language unveiled with the Pixel 4 series. Interestingly enough, the Pixel 4a XL would be a device with two cameras, in counterpart to the Pixel 4a. Moreover, the white cover also has the traditional Google Pixel orange power button.

The dual-camera array on the XL would make an interesting device for users who are fans of the company’s cameras. It would be cheaper than the company’s premium offerings, but just slightly higher than the Pixel 4a. The small variant then could be a super-budget offering. The Pixel 3a series was more affordable than the flagship series, but not so cheap. This could change with Pixel 4a, but with the company’s decision of killing the XL model, we don’t think the remaining version will be a super-budget version.
