The alternate English proficiency test is keeping study abroad plan alive

COVID-19 has kept a pause on the future of more than 5 lacs students from India. Major study destinations like, USA, UK, Australia, Canada are highly affected by the virus. When asked about it, one of the major universities has replied that “we are conducting talks at various levels every day to keep our plans ready.”

The good news is that technology has helped Universities to stay in touch with aspiring students. Every day thousands of the students are regularly in touch with the International Recruitment team of various Universities to know about their admissibility.  

To dig in further, we spoke with Mr. Braj Bhushan Jha, who works as a Regional Head for the University of Wolverhampton. He says, “Currently, we anticipate that programs will commence as planned in September, by face to face delivery or by online delivery, as circumstances dictate at the time and in line with guidance from the UK Government. I must say that there is a slowdown in the flow of applications, but it has not stopped. Moreover, we are regularly conducting FBLive sessions, virtual fairs, zooms calls, etc to be in touch with them. Students are cautious about COVID-19 which is a good sign, but they are not frustrated.”

To ensure that you are not disadvantaged by the crisis, we have added the IELTS Indicator test to our list of approved English language test 

You can take the IELTS Indicator on any suitable desktop computer or laptop with reliable internet access and will be required to complete the Listening, Reading, and Writing in one sitting. The Speaking test will take place at a separate time.

He further added, “Early this year, we had our Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Tim Steele visiting different parts of India. He has presented his thoughts and strategies about various types of partnerships and recruitment. The best thing is that we are running as per the plan. We are glad to see the amazing response coming from Indian students through various digital platforms. I am sure to see these students at the University.” 

Looking at the current situation, some Universities are planning to run September intake a little late OR blended version. The Universities are also running complete online classes for currently enrolled students so that their semester should not go waste.

Most of the Universities have also formed COVID specific bodies to handle the situation at the local level. There are various guidelines issued by the abroad Universities as an advisory to international students.
