Converse Chuck 70 "Layers" Supplies Stacked Multicolor Seams
For a vivid 3D glasses-esque effect.
by Ross DwyerConverse‘s knack for creatively reinventing the Chuck 70 has resulted in everything from Carhartt WIP collaborations to Scooby-Doo styles in the past weeks, and now the Chuck 70 Hi has arrived in a new “Layers” makeup. Using stacked, multicolored seams, the “Layers” produces a vivid effect that’s somewhat reminiscent of the bright hues seen through 3D glasses.
Two colorways have been made available: “Egret/White” and “Black/Egret.” The former’s cloud-like palette serves as an apt base for its extra rows of stitched seams, seemingly blurring them together to create an eye-deceiving 3D effect. Meanwhile, the latter’s stark black base amplifies its colored embellishments, making for a bright and non-deceptive style. Each pair also features striped heels, layers of stitching around the collar’s All-Star badge — a clever embellishment that makes the iconic circle look as if it’s falling off — and a final row of stripes above the toe cap, which swaps its normal rubberized build for more canvas. Both are completed with two sets of laces, high-gloss eggshell midsoles and black heel badges.
The Converse Chuck 70 Layers “Egret/White” and “Black/Egret” are both available now via the Converse webstore. Each is priced at $90 USD.
Elsewhere, Round Two head Sean Wotherspoon recently teased another “SUPEREARTH” collaboration with adidas Originals.
