Ireland and Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick is being linked with a stunning move to Italian Serie A giants AC Milan.

The Dubliner's contract at Turf Moor is due to expire at the end of the Premier League season and Sky Sports report that the European heavyweights are interested in securing his services.

The 28-year-old has held talks with The Clarets over a potential new deal, according to the report.

Hendrick sealed a £10.5M move to Burnley from Derby County in August 2016 after he starred for Ireland at the European Championships that summer.

It is claimed that a number of other clubs in the Premier League are interested in signing the midfielder.

Hendrick's childhood pal - international and club team-mate Robbie Brady - recently saw his deal with Burnley extended.

With Brady also coming to the end of his contract this summer, the club triggered an option to keep the Ireland star, 28, on their books for a further 12 months.

Hendrick's contract was due to expire at the end of June but the Premier League has ruled that players with expiring deals will have the opportunity to secure extensions until the end of the 2019/20 season, with fixtures set to resume next month.
