Fans think this is the new PS5 startup sound
by GameCentralSony’s PS5 announcement may have revealed more than just the date of its reveal event but also the noise the console makes when it starts up.
Even though it was widely rumoured, the news that Sony is finally going to reveal the games launch line-up for the PlayStation 5 next week has instantly become the biggest gaming news story of the year.
But there may have been another titbit of information hidden withing the announcement, as many have wondered whether the musical chime that plays during the above video clip is the PlayStation 5’s start-up sound.
It does sound similar to the start-up noises for previous PlayStation consoles, and seems to have had a lot of effort put into it for a 15 second video, but officially Sony hasn’t said what it is.
It may seem a trivial detail but that’s a noise you’re going to have to listen to an awful lot over the years, if you get a PlayStation 5.
Microsoft deemed it important enough to reveal their start-up sequence as an official announcement, especially as many complained the one for the Xbox One was too loud and aggressive.
The PlayStation 5 reveal event on Thursday is primarily for games, so we may not get an official confirmation then, or at all.
Sony has implied that since next week’s showcase will only be about the games it may be a little while longer till we see what the console looks like or learn its exact release date and price.
