Britney Spears Blesses Fans with Her First New Song in Four Years

Britney is back!

The Princess of Pop shocked fans yesterday by announcing that an unreleased song, titled "Mood Ring" from her ninth studio album, Glory, is now available on streaming platforms. The moody and sensual track was originally available only as a bonus track in Japan but quickly became a beloved deep cut from the "Womanizer" singer.

"Repurposed this since we didn't use it: You folks wanted a new album cover ….. ta da there you go!!!! What was requested next is out now...," wrote Spears on Twitter. "I hope you turn #MoodRing up sooooooo loud!!!!"

Spears even acknowledged her fans' persistence to release the track by noting it in the official title of the full song, which is dubbed "Mood Ring (Fan Demand)" on Apple Music and Spotify. The surprise release follows Spears unexpectedly updating the cover art for Glory earlier this month after fans helped get the four-year-old album to the top of the iTunes chart.

In the new cover image, Spears dons a metallic-gold body suit while lying atop silver chains in the middle of a barren desert. "You asked for a new Glory cover and since it went to number one we had to make it happen !!!!," wrote Spears on Instagram, regarding the updated imagery. "Couldn't have done it without you all."
