Patrolling police from Merseyside helped to catch a suspected drug driver who was chased down the wrong way of a motorway and ended up careering off the road.
The pursuit ended up on three separate motorways as he firstly travelled on the M61 and then against oncoming traffic on the M56 in Cheshire.
The man failed to stop and moved onto the M60, with officers from Merseyside on his tail between Junctions 3 and 8, before coming off at an exit.
Shortly after that, at about 8.15pm last night, he tried to negotiate a roundabout, but lost control of his dark-coloured car.
Pictures showed the vehicle having crashed into a barrier, on a grass verge, with Merseyside Police patrols lined up next to him.
The driver, 25, was arrested for drug driving, said to be cannabis.
He tested positive from a roadside drug swipe.
The man, from Manchester, was taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up.
North West Motorway Police bosses said the chase lasted for about four minutes in a pursuit which involved Merseyside Police and Greater Manchester Police.
