Jurgen Klinsmann in awe of ‘absolutely exceptional’ Spurs man

by

Tottenham Hotspur cult hero Jurgen Klinsmann is confident that Spurs have a bright future ahead of them with Jose Mourinho in charge, as quoted by talkSPORT.

Mourinho took the Tottenham reins back in November as Spurs moved quickly to secure Mauricio Pochettino’s successor.

To date, the Portuguese has taken charge of 26 games for his new club, with 11 wins, five draws and 10 defeats (Transfermarkt).

Although Tottenham suffered a downturn in form prior to the football shutdown, this was largely attributed to a number of key injuries to the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Klinsmann believes his former club has the right man in Mourinho, who has won league titles in England, Spain and Italy and has two Champions League winners’ medals to his name.

“Jose is an absolutely exceptional coach,” the Germany legend told talkSPORT. “Obviously he has his philosophy, his way of doing things.

“With his experience and knowledge, he has an amazing humour as well, I just hope that things will fall into place and they get the success that they deserve.”

While Mourinho’s early days haven’t been universally acclaimed by the Spurs fanbase, there’s no doubting the Portuguese’s CV and his knack of building winning teams.

Tottenham now have a clean bill of health injury-wise and will fancy their chances of mounting a late run towards the European places when the league resumes.

Even though it won’t be the easiest of summers – not just for Spurs but for most clubs worldwide, in wake of current events – Mourinho has what it takes to put a winning team together.
