Region looking for feedback on plans for multi-use trail on Ottawa

The proposed plan has 5.5 kilometres of continuous multi-use trails on Ottawa between Homer Watson and Trussler

by

As the Region of Waterloo continues preparing for road improvements on Ottawa Street between Fischer-Hallman Road and International Place in Kitchener, they are hoping the public can weigh in on what multi-use trails in a portion of that area could look like.

The plans have the 2.4 - 3-metre-wide trails proposed for Ottawa Street between Homer Watson Boulevard and Trussler Road.

The multi-use trails would also include grassed boulevards.

This would mean the removal of the current sidewalks and curbs in the area as well as already approved upgrades to Ottawa.

A rough timeline of the work has shovels in the ground in May 2021, with construction potentially completed by the fall.

The community feedback portion of the project is open until June 19th. You can fill out the survey here.

The results of the public consultation will be discussed at a council meeting on August 11th with hopes of finalizing the project by the fall of this year.
