Juice WRLD’s Posthumous Song “Tell Me U Luv Me” Released For His Girlfriend’s Birthday

by

Juice WRLD’s latest posthumous release, “Tell Me U Luv Me,” arrived today with an accompanying music video directed by his frequent collaborator, Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett. The Trippie Redd collaboration, which is produced by Nick Mira and oktanner, dropped on the birthday of Ally Lotti, Juice WRLD’s girlfriend. The video features old footage of the late rapper with Lotti.

On the track, Juice WRLD raps about his severe drug addiction:

B-tch, I’m a druggie (B-tch I’m a druggie), so can you hide my drugs from me?
And when I get lonely (When I get lonely), can you be my company?
Drugs to the brain, swervin' inside of a Benz truck
I cannot stay in my lane, um, yes, I got you in my brain, duh (Duh)

These lyrics are particularly chilling in light of his December 2019 death from an accidental drug overdose of oxycodone and codeine.

The Chicago rapper revisits another familiar theme by threatening to kill a woman if she leaves him:

It’s me or no one (Me or no one)
If you leave, I’ll take your life away like you were no one (You were no one)

Although he previously rapped similar lines on songs like “Fine China,” “Used To,” and “Candles,” Juice WRLD was never accused of violence against women in real life.

Meanwhile, Trippie handles the chorus:

Tell me you love me, tell me everything gon' be okay
Tell me you love me, tell me you love me and you gon' stay
Tell me you love me, tell me you love me, won’t go nowhere
Tell me you love me, tell me you love me

Trippie and Juice WRLD have a history of working together, collaborating on songs like “1400 / 999 Freestyle,” and “6 Kiss.”

“Tell Me U Luv Me” follows Juice WRLD’s first posthumous single, “Righteous.” His estate previously shared plans for a posthumous album, but hasn’t divulged any details about the project yet.
