Sony announces PS5 games reveal event for next week

by

Sony has finally broken its silence over the PlayStation 5 and is promising to show off its launch games during an event next week.

It turns out the rumours were correct and Sony really is planning to unveil all about the PlayStation 5 in June, although at first just its games.

An online event is scheduled for Thursday, 4 June at 9pm BST and will last for just over an hour.

The description on the PlayStation Blog implies it will focus on games – which means the console, its price, and its release date may have to wait till another day.

‘I’m excited to share that we will soon give you a first look at the games you’ll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches this holiday’, writes PlayStation boss Jim Ryan.

‘The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.’

The idea that the event won’t talk much about hardware is further underlined by Ryan’s assurance that this is merely ‘part of our series of PS5 updates’.

‘After next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you’, he adds. Which sounds like Sony is finally breaking radio silence for good.
