15-Year-Old Causes Fatal Accident After Ramming Into Vehicle on Busy Road

A 15-year-old boy on Friday, May 29, caused a fatal accident along the Kisumu-Ahero road.

The boy, who had borrowed the motorbike he was riding, was trying to overtake a vehicle- a Prado, when he rammed into it and died on the spot.

An eyewitness, Gerry Odera, who was at the scene of the incident told Kenyans.co.ke, that the boy was overtaking from the wrong side when the accident happened.

"He was just a student who had borrowed a motorbike," he empathized.

Photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke, which could not be posted due to their gorry nature showed the lifeless body of the 15-year-old lying on the road.

From the images, the student appeared to have suffered head and stomach injuries, leading to his untimely death.

At the time of publishing, police officers were yet to arrive at the scene.

Meanwhile, another accident took place along the Eldoret-Iten road at SDA (block 10) on Friday afternoon.

This, after a lorry driver had to pump the emergency break and was hit by a matatu. Passengers in both the lorry and matatu suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital.

A survey released by the National Transport and Security Authority (NTSA) dated April 23 showed that 262 motorcyclists had died on the road since 2020 began. 

The number is slightly high compared to 2019 whereby 204 motorcyclists lost their lives by the same date.

The Authority has so far reported a total of 1,022 people who have lost their lives since the year began compared to 1,058 who died in 2019.
