PS5 Will Represent the Best Possible Value, Says Sony
Talking money
by Stephen TailbyHow much will PS5 cost? It's a burning question that still remains unanswered by Sony, and it seems the company isn't quite ready to talk numbers just yet.
As GamesIndustry points out in a discussion with PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, a possible recession could leave many fans in an unfortunate position. So, what's the word on PS5's price given the current situation?
"I think the best way that we can address this is by providing the best possible value proposition that we can," Ryan says. "I don't necessarily mean lowest price. Value is a combination of many things."
It's an interesting quote, even if we don't get a price tag. Ryan is emphasising the value PS5 will present, rather than shooting for a low initial cost. What does that value mean for PS5? "In our area it means games, it means number of games, depth of games, breadth of games, quality of games, price of games... all of these things and how they avail themselves of the feature set of the platform," he elaborates.
We're no closer to a price, then, but it sounds as though PlayStation is pushing for the next-gen console to be worth your hard earned cash.
