Diego Godin link, failed Wendel bid and other Everton transfer rumours rated

Everton continue to be linked with a host of players, as Carlo Ancelotti mulls over whether to strengthen his squad when the transfer window opens.

As fresh rumours about the potential new arrivals on Merseyside continue to surface, we have taken a look at the latest pieces of gossip to see what they could mean for the Blues.

Who?

Diego Godin, Inter Milan defender and Uruguayan legend.

Where?

According to Calciomercato, cited by Prince Rupert's Tower, Inter boss Antonio Conte has been left unimpressed by Godin since his arrival from Atletico Madrid last summer.

The report adds that Conte is willing to let the 34-year-old leave the San Siro when the transfer window reopens, and Everton boss Ancelotti has identified him as a “viable option”.

Godin spent nine seasons with Atletico, helping the club win one La Liga title and reach two Champions League finals, and could be available for between £6-£8m.

What?

The surprise link of Godin to a potential move to Everton appears to be indicative of Everton’s approach to the upcoming transfer window.

The experienced centre-back is not the first player in his position to be linked with transfer to Goodison Park, and could be an area that Ancelotti looks to strengthen.

However, the Echo understands that transfer dealings at Everton are expected to be dominated by loan and swap deals.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused significantly financial difficulties for football clubs across the world.

Wendel, Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

Where?

According to Plataforma, via HITC, the Blues have made an offer of around €15m for the 22-year-old midfielder but Lisbon want €20m - about £4.5m more.

It has also been claimed that that Napoli, Fiorentina and Nice are also interested in the Brazilian, who was a team-mate of Richarlison at his previous club Fluminense.

What?

The midfield could well be an area that Ancelotti looks to strengthen when the transfer window reopens.

The recent injury news surrounding Jean-Philippe Gbamin means the Blues are without the Frenchman for the rest of the calendar year.

As already stated, the Echo understands that only players involved in loan and swap deals are likely to move to Goodison Park this summer.

Therefore, it is not likely that deal around €20m will be completed by the Toffees anytime soon.

Who?

Angelo Fulgini, midfielder at French club Angers.

Where?

According to Ouest-France, via Sport Witness, Everton are interested in bringing Fulgani to Goodison Park to be a key player in the Blues’ engine room.

The report states that Fulgini has ‘concrete offers’ from Everton and Ligue 1 outfit St Etienne.

It is claimed that Angers president Sébastien Larcier has expressed his desire to keep Fulgini at the club beyond the next transfer window, although it could come down to what the player wants.

With just a single year left on his current deal, the 23-year-old could be available for between €4-5m.

What?

Yet more transfer gossip has linked the Toffees with a potential new midfielder, hardly surprising given the latest news of Gbamin’s injury.

With the Toffees unlikely to invest in permanent deals that involve a significant financial outlay, it looks unlikely that even a transfer worth €4-€5m will be considered.

It remains to be seen whether Everton consider any of these reported targets as part of any swap deals.
