Oman records 811 new cases, taking total to 9,820

MUSCAT — Oman on Friday confirmed 811 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of COVID-19 infections in the Sultanate to 9,820, according to a statement from the country’s health ministry carried by state news agency.

Of the newly detected cases, there are 315 Omani citizens and 496 expatriates, the health ministry said.

The ministry also reported 219 new recoveries from the deadly virus, taking the total recoveries from the disease in the Sultanate to 2,396.

Meanwhile, no new death was recorded in the last 24 hours with the country’s death toll from COVID-19 standing at 40.

The ministry again called on the public — citizens and residents — to adhere to precautionary and preventive measures announced by the authorities to curb the spread of coronavirus.

“With our commitment to health isolation and social distancing, we will prevent ourselves, our families and our community from the spread of the coronavirus,” the ministry said in a statement.
