Jurgen Klopp insists it's "not important" where Liverpool win Premier League

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists he does not mind if Liverpool do not lift the Premier League trophy at Anfield.

Certain matches are set to be played at neutral venues as part of Project Restart and the resumption of football on 17 June.

All games will be played behind closed doors, so the Reds will not be able to share their all-but certain triumph with their fans.

But the latest speculation hints that Liverpool may not even lift the trophy at Anfield as they play their remaining games at neutral grounds to avoid fan gatherings.

Klopp, however, maintains it will be "absolutely exceptional" for Liverpool to win their first league title in 30 years, regardless of the venue.

“In the moment for me whenever it will be, in an empty stadium blah, blah blah, with all the thoughts and prayers and love from the people all around the world it will still be an absolutely exceptional day in my life," the German told beIN Sports.

“Wherever it will be I don’t know, we hope it will be at Anfield but we don’t know and that’s not important.”

Klopp still hopes games can be played at Anfield and urged fans to stay at home to share in the Reds' triumph.

He added: “I heard a day ago a really good phrase about that we have the best home fans in the world, and now we need the best stay at home fans in the world.”

Regardless of where Liverpool may win the league - should they do so - Klopp is relieved that the season is being finished on the pitch rather than via a points-per-game basis.

“We waited a while for this situation and it’s not done yet," he said. "If we had not stopped the league, or it would not have happened, the silly null and void stuff.

"We wanted to play anyway and now we are really desperate to play because we want to become champions on the pitch that looks like that we can do that.”

And once the coronavirus recedes, the Reds boss is certain a time will come to celebrate as a fanbase.

Klopp added: “Then there will be a moment in our life when we have time and the opportunity and it’s allowed to celebrate together then we will have a moment, and we will celebrate it in the right manner.

"Whenever that will be, then we decide how much we enjoy it then.”
