Report: Inter set to agree deal for Alessandro Bastoni, after rejecting Arsenal approach
by Will ButcherItalian outlet FC Inter News have claimed that Inter Milan are set to agree a new deal with highly-rated defender Alessandro Bastoni – after Antonio Conte’s side rejected approaches from both Arsenal and Manchester City.
Bastoni, 21, joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2017 for £28million (FCIN) before being loaned back to Atalanta during 2017-18 and then Parma last term. This season, he has broken into Conte’s side – clocking up 17 outings.
Indeed, the form of the Italy defender has even seen him called up to the national team – and keep veteran Diego Godin at bay. But the chances of Bastoni moving to England have seemingly come to an end – before the rumours even started.
The report states that both Arsenal and Manchester City have had bids rejected for Bastoni, while Liverpool have been previously linked. Indeed, Bastoni is set to sign a five-year Inter contract – worth £26,000 a week.
TBR’s view – Bastoni showing enormous promise
The kind of potential that suggests he could become one of the best central defenders Italy has to offer in years to come. To have already become a regular for Inter and break his way into the Italy team shows just how good he has been.
Both Arsenal and Manchester City need central defenders and Bastoni would have been a top addition but it is clear that they will have to wait a number of years before even considering another move to land the Italian.
