No more OnePlus McLaren phones, the partnership has ended - Gizchina.com

by

A few days ago, reports indicating the end of the partnership between OnePlus and McLaren started to surface. The reason was that the smartphone maker has been removed from the Formula 1 brand partner’s list. Now, it’s official – No more OnePlus McLaren smartphones as the partnership has ended. That was a short-lived partnership as the first OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition came in 2018.

Back in the last year, we saw this partnership giving birth to the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. The device was a T-Mobile exclusive for the United States. Then, the company released the OnePlus Concept One, which also has part of this partnership. It was a promising device with a disappearing camera and McLaren signature Papaya Orange color. Those special editions were known for unveiling new features like Warp Charge 30. The special edition OnePlus 6T  was the first OnePlus phone to sport wireless charging feature. Now, this is a feature that is available in standard variants.

A McLaren spokesperson made the following statement to justify the end of this partnership:

“Our partnership with OnePlus, which came to its scheduled conclusion recently, has been a highly successful collaboration between two iconic and innovative brands. Since the start of this partnership in 2018, OnePlus has been a supportive and valuable partner. We wish them well and hope to see them in the future.”

As we can see in the statement above, we won’t see a new OnePlus McLaren phone this year. However, this doesn’t mean that it will be the end of special edition versions. The company just needs to find another partner. If you recall, the McLaren edition wasn’t the first special edition OnePlus phone. We’ve already seen Star Wars and Avenger limited editions. So, it’ll be just a matter of time until a new partnership pops out. Knowing OnePlus, the chances are pretty high.
