Man held for placing raw meat in front of 2 temples in Coimbatore
by Gladwin EmmanuelChennai: S Hariram Prakash, 48, has been taken into custody by the Coimbatore city police in Tamil Nadu on Friday for leaving raw meat in front of temples, apparently with an ulterior motive, thereby creating tension in the city.
Sources said that the meat was found in front of Venugopala Krishnaswamy temple and Sri Raghavendra temple on Sullivan street.
Following this, cadres of Hindu Munnani took to the streets demanding the police to arrest the miscreant.
It is said that Hariram left a carry bag containing the meat in front of the Raghavendra temple around 10.30 am and left another in front of the main gate of the Krishnaswamy temple.
A flower seller who saw the man initially mistook the bag to be containing flowers. But subsequently, it came to light that it was raw pork meat.
Police said they were not sure whether Hariram, a resident of Kavundampalayam, belong to any fringe outfits.
They alleged that the man has minor mental health issues.
But the motive was apparently to accuse the Muslims and create communal tension in the city at the time of the pandemic.
