Federal grant to help UArizona telehealth resource center assist communities

As Covid-19 has brought a “sea change” to telemedicine, the federal government has awarded more than $800,000 to boost an Arizona program helping underserved communities in the region during the pandemic.

The Southwest Telehealth Resource Center in Tucson, part of the University of Arizona’s Arizona Telemedicine Program, was awarded $828,000 to help in its work of providing assistance and resources for new and established telehealth programs in the region.

The funds comes from Health Resources and Services Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Southwest center is one of 13 such centers around the country that provide help particularly for rural and underserved communities.
