Insider Shares What Patrick Mahomes’ Mega Contract Extension Could Look Like
by Darrelle LincolnIt is without a doubt that Patrick Mahomes will be the highest paid quarterback in NFL history when he and the Kansas City Chiefs eventually agree to a deal.
With two AFC Championship Game appearances, an NFL MVP, a Madden cover, a Super Bowl crown and a Super Bowl MVP under his belt, Mahomes is in line to get an astronomical contract that we have never seen before.
Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac recently took to social media and shared his projections that showed the Chiefs giving him a four-year, $180 million contract, which would shatter the five-year, $150 million deal Matt Ryan has.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Includes a whopping $120 million just in guarantees running through 2022
- $50 million signing bonus and a $35 million second-year bonus
- Deal would rise to $144 million through 2023 and pay out a princely $198 million over six total years
In only 31 games as a starter, Mahomes has a 24-7 record, a Super Bowl ring, 9,412 passing yards, 76 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
