The summer signing from Stenhousemuir believes he's found a home in football at the Rock.

Dumbarton defender Morgyn Neill has revealed that he sees his future at the Sons.

The summer signing from Stenhousemuir, who played every minute of every game last season for the club, has told manager Jim Duffy that he’s ready to sign up for the new campaign, after admitting he’s found a home in football at the Rock.

And the big defender, known as Scoop, believes that keeping the core of the club’s current squad together should put Duffy’s side in a strong position to challenge for promotion when football returns.

Morgyn told the Lennox: “I spoke to the gaffer even before the virus started and he explained that he wanted me to stay and I told him that I wanted to stay, so I don’t see anything changing – unless something drastic happens to the budget.

“I’m really happy here, I feel as if it’s the one club I’ve been at where I just feel as if it’s my place.

“A few players like Hutts (Kyle Hutton) have said that they are wanting to stay, and I’m on that list. I want to stay.

“I know we won’t get contracts offered to us just now because of the circumstances and obviously the club needs to know what’s happening.

“But having spoken to the gaffer he’s happy with me and I’m happy with Dumbarton.

“Hopefully when things are back to normality then I’ll be back at the club.”

Morgyn now hopes that he can build on a solid first season at the Rock, after impressing alongside centre-half partner Ryan McGeever.

He continued: “I think gradually as the season went on me and McGeever built a good partnership.

“I think he’s in the same boat as me and he wants to stay, so if that’s the case hopefully we can build a successful season off the back of that.

“The fans have never turned on us, obviously you get a few mump and moans which is only right because the fans want you to do well, and that’s what we demand from each other in the changing room.

“We all demand high standards and if someone drops their game then you drag

“On paper we have got a good squad, if we can add a couple of bodies to make it a little bit better then you never know what could happen.”

And having scooped the Sonstrust Travel Club Player of the Year award earlier in the month, Morgyn reserved praise for the Sons support.

He added: “At any team that I’ve been in I always make sure that I clap the fans, whether we win, lose or draw.

“I think it’s important that you always recognise the fans.

“These are the people who are always coming to the games, and it’s easy for people from Dumbarton to just go up to Glasgow and support Celtic or Rangers, but they come and support us every week.

“I think it’s important we thank them because their support has been first
class.”
