Sadah Hospital evacuated as centre of tropical depression moves towards Dhofar
by Times News ServiceMuscat: The centre of the tropical depression is likely to move towards the coast of Dhofar Governorate with the ability to intensify further and crossing the coast during the coming hours.
According to the Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA), the centre of the tropical depression is about 100 km away from the coast of the Sultanate (Salalah). PACA has issued alert number one on the tropical situation in the Arabian Sea.
Sadah Hospital in Dhofar governorate has evacuated due to tropical depression. A statement issued online by Oman TV said, "The hospital of Sadah in the Governorate of Dhofar has evaluated and moved all devices and medicines to safe places as a result of the deepening of the tropical situation on the coast of the governorate."
In its alert, the authority said: "The latest weather chart and the analysis of the National Center for Multi Hazards Early Warning Centre indicate that the tropical depression located south of coastal areas of Dhofar governorate at longitude 54.5E with estimated surface wind speed around the centre between 17 and 25 knots.
The authority indicated that the centre of the tropical depression is likely to move towards the coast of Dhofar Governorate with the ability to intensify further and crossing the coast of the governorate during the coming hours.
The continuous of heavy rain 100-200mm during next 24 hours associated with fresh to strong winds and wadis with law horizontal visibility and sea conditions will be rough along with governorates of Dhofar 4-5 metres and Al Wusta 3 metres.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation called on everyone to take care and caution during thunderstorms, avoid crossing wadis, avoid low places and not head out to the sea.
