Mumbai: Dharavi reports 41 COVID-19 positive cases on Friday

The slum-clusters of Dharavi alone reported 41 new cases today, taking the total number of infected to 1,715.

A senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said that the new cases were found in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Azad nagar, Shastri Nagar, Baliga Nagar and some other localities of Dharavi.

At least 70 people have succumbed to coronavirus in Dharavi so far.

No new death was reported in Dharavi in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, there are a total of 443 positive cases in the Mahim area. At least, nine people have succumbed to coronavirus in Mahim so far. The nearby Dadar reported a total number of 294 COVID-19 positive cases. At least, 10 people have succumbed to coronavirus in Dadar so far.

It may be noted that Dharavi witnessed a drop in cases on Wednesday (May 27), as only 18 COVID-19 positive cases were reported from the area.

A total of 1,437 new cases were reported in Mumbai, taking its overall count to 36,710. Thirty-eight people succumbed to the infection in Mumbai today. Out of 38 deaths 28 patients had co-morbidities. Among them, 22 patients were male and 16 female. Two deaths were below 40 years of age, 20 deaths were above 60 years of age, and 16 were between 40 to 60 years. Also, 715 patients were discharged today. Death toll has now gone up to 1,173 in the city.

Maharashtra reported a spike of 2,682 new COVID-19 cases and 116 deaths on Friday. With this, the state has recorded a total of 62,228 cases and 2,098 deaths so far.
