Lady Gaga 'can’t stop crying' as she addresses amazing Chromatica response
by Mel EvansLady Gaga has said she ‘can’t stop crying’ as she addressed the response to the release of Chromatica.
It marks Gaga’s sixth studio album (read our review here) and first solo release since 2016’s Joanne, with fans going, well, er, gaga over the offering.
Speaking about the fanfare, Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – admitted she couldn’t stop crying because she was ‘so happy’.
Well that in itself has got us in tears!
The 34-year-old singer was freaking out about the album prior to release, but just minutes later she felt so pleased about the reaction she could barely write on social media.
She tweeted alongside a video of her dancing: ‘I’m not tweeting cuz I can’t stop crying I’m so happy. Thank you (sic)’
That wasn’t all though as she encouraged people to listen to the album as it told her ‘true story’.
She wrote: ‘Please listen from the beginning to the end, no need to shuffle, it’s my true story.’
But she minutes before the album dropped, she wasn’t so calm.
In a series of tweets, she shared: ‘Omg my album is out in 5 minutes in THE US IM FREAKING OUT
‘1 minute IM SCREAMINGGgggggg!!! #Chromatica
‘Welcome to #Chromatica (sic)’
The album is led by singles Rain on Me – Gaga’s collaboration with Ariana Grande – Stupid Love, and Sour Candy, which features BLACKPINK.
Every track has been co-written by Gaga, who also executive produced the record alongside BloodPop.
The album also features the likes of Sir Elton John and Skrillex, among others.
Fans have been deep into the meanings within the songs and have speculated that some tracks feature hints to her break-up from Christian Carino in 2019, after the pair spent two years together.
In one track, Fun Tonight, she sings: ‘Maybe it’s time for us to say goodbye.’
Gaga – who is now dating Michael Polsanky – recently admitted she channelled some of her ‘extremely painful’ past and heartbreak into Chroatica.
She said to Beats 1 host Zane Lowe on Apple Music: ‘The sound, the music, being myself.
‘How can I take something that’s extremely painful for me and find the one piece of it that’s universally human and help somebody else?
‘And then see what it sounds like.’
Speaking about a song called 911 which was about an antipsychotic medication she takes, the singer revealed she had planned to wean herself off everything, including alcohol.
Gaga said: ‘I don’t take any pain medication, because it’s not healthy for me. But I’ve flirted with the idea of sobriety.
‘I’m not there yet, but I flirted with it throughout the album. It’s something that came up as a result of me trying to work through the pain that I was feeling.
‘But part of my healing process was going, “Well, I can either lash the hell out of myself every day for continuing to drink, or I can just be happy that I’m still alive and keep going,” and feel good enough.
‘I am good enough. It’s not perfect, but wabi-sabi. I’m perfectly imperfect.’
