Famous astrologer Bejan Daruwalla passed away on Friday. He was on ventilator support in a hospital in Ahmedabad. He was 89.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani expressed his condolences. "Saddened by the demise of renowned Astrologer Shri Bejan Daruwalla. I pray for the departed soul. My condolences. Om Shanti...," he tweeted.

According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s list of patients, Daruwalla had tested positive for COVID-19 on May 22.

"He was a legend and extremely affable person. So many in our generation were hooked to his "Ganesha Says" column. Just a few days back we were together on a show with @nishantchat on @TV9Bharatvarsh. Never thought it would be our last conversation. Om Shanti," said Yashwant Deshmukh.

"The common man’s astrologer who made the subject so relatable and accessible will be missed so. Love and respect always. And prayers and condolences to all his loved ones," wrote actor Nimrat Kaur.

Daruwalla had predicted several Prime Ministerial victories including that of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Morarji Desai and more recently, Narendra Modi. He had also predicted the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi's accident and the Bhopal gas tragedy, amongst others.

About astrology, Daruwalla had said that intuition is key. "I combine everything. But the final trigger is intuition. For example, I could see the face of V P Singh and not Rajiv Gandhi. So I said that V P Singh would become the prime minister. A lot of things go together in it," he had told Reddif.
