Midlands Air Ambulance lands on Cannock Park Golf Course as golfer collapses and dies

The Midlands Air Ambulance landed on Cannock Golf Course as paramedics desperately tried to resuscitate a golfer who tragically collapsed and died.

Emergency crews received a report a man had collapsed on the golf course at around 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday).

The Midlands Air Ambulance were called to the scene and landed on the 6th fairway. A paramedic officer was also called to the scene along with two ambulances.

Paramedics tried desperately to resuscitate a man who collapsed on the 6th green. But despite their best efforts the man was later declared dead.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received a call that there had been a medical emergency at Cannock Golf Course at around 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday) Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance was sent to the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who had collapsed and was in a critical condition. Paramedics were administering life support treatment but sadly nothing could be done. He was confirmed dead at the scene."

Just hours before the Midlands Air Ambulance landed at Cannock bus station after a man suffered a medical emergency.

Emergency crews – including the Midlands Air Ambulance – were called to Ringway-based station after the man fell ill at around 9.30am on Thursday, May 28.

He was taken to New Cross Hospital by ambulance for further treatment, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
