Large outboard motor stolen from outside Nanaimo business

Nanaimo RCMP say it couldn’t have been an easy task for thieves to steal a Mercury outboard motor from in front of M&P Mercury Sales.

The motor, attached to a display boat at the 1520 Stewart Ave. business, was taken between 5 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday.

It would have taken heavy-duty tools to remove the motor, a number of people to lift it and a large vehicle to transport it, police said.

The motor’s serial number is 2A551473.

Police ask anyone with information to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. — Times Colonist
