TAMPA, Fla. — The National Hurricane Center says there's a 60% chance that an area of low pressure will develop over the next 48 hours.

The area is currently over the central Atlantic Ocean several hundred miles east-southeast of Bermuda. According to NHC's 8 a.m. update Saturday, the system also has a 60% chance of development through the next five days.

A subtropical depression could form Saturday night while the system moves north, NHC said. Further development is not expected after that due to "unfavorable environmental conditions," NHC said late Friday night.
