Edo 2020: Ize-Iyamu is yet to meet conditions for waiver granted - APC chairmen

The consensus candidature of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC may have hit a brick wall as chairmen of the party in Edo state said he did not meet the conditions for a waiver granted to him by some members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
The chairmen from the 18 local government areas of the state said that the decision to present Ize-Iyamu as the consensus candidate would not stand as he was not a member of the party.

The APC chairmen led by Ben Oghomu, their chairman, on Thursday, May 28, at the state party secretariat in Benin, described Ize-Iyamu’s consensus candidature in Abuja on Tuesday, May 26, as null, void and of no effect.
They went on to note that the conditions for waiver prescribed by the party’s constitution have not been met, adding that Ize-Iyamu is not a member of APC.
The party chieftains pledged to ensure that the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki would emerge victorious during the primaries scheduled for Monday, June 22 and also win the governorship poll on September 19.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the re-election bid of Governor Godwin Obaseki may have hit a brick wall as another governorship aspirant of the APC, Ize-Iyamu, emerged the party's consensus candidate for the next gubernatorial election in the state.

Ize-Iyamu, a former secretary to Edo state government, emerged the candidate of the party on the night of Tuesday, May 26, in Abuja through a consensus arrangement.

Similarly, Ize-Iyamu has said that he is yet to receive the endorsement from some key party chieftains as alleged in some quarters.
A frontline APC aspirant in the Edo state guber election said the trio of the APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole, national leader Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari have not endorsed him to contest the election.
He made this known on Wednesday, May 27, after obtaining his nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
