Wanted JMB terrorist Abdul Karim arrested in West Bengal's Murshidabad

Kolkata: The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police on Friday arrested Abdul Karim, the most wanted Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist, from Murshidabad district’s Suti Police Station area.

He was among the top three most wanted JMB terrorists in India and was linked to Burdwan’s Khagragarh bomb blast and 2013 Gaya blast.

Kolkata Police said, “Abdul Karim alias Boro Karim wanted in STF PS case no. 8/2017 dated 29.11.2017 has been arrested this morning from Suti PS area, Jangipur District, with the assistance of the local police.”

Police also said, “With this arrest, the top three wanted JMB terrorists in India is now reduced to two.” He was produced before a local court today and remanded to police custody.

Karim had headed the Dhuliyan module and was engaged in the supply of logistics and shelter to top leaders like Saleuddin, the police said.

JMB is the most dreaded terrorist organisation in Bangladesh which operated in India and Karim was known to be one of the main operatives. His name has been mentioned in Bangladesh also during interrogation of other arrested JMB terrorists. JMB is behind several terrorist attacks in the country including blasts in Bihar's Gaya and Burdwan in West

Bengal.

Karim had escaped in 2018, during a raid in his house in Bangladesh. However, a huge amount of explosives and jihadi material were seized from his house.
