'Will Approach SC To Reinstate Ramesh Kumar As SEC'

TADEPALLI: YSRCP MLA Ambati Rambabu said on Friday that the government will approach Supreme Court on the High court’s order directing the state government to reinstate Ramesh Kumar as the State Election Commissioner.

Speaking to media persons in Tadepalli, Ambati Rambabu said Justice Kanakaraju was appointed as SEC in place of Nimmagadda Prasad through the ordinance of shortening the tenure of SEC from five years to three years. But in some cases, justice may not be served and there is a possibility of moving to the apex court and we have been consulting judicial experts in this regard.

He said, "We will respect the court's orders, which are also against the government and also appeal to the High Court if there were any objections in the orders."

Speaking about the removal of Nimmagadda Ramesh who acted partially, we brought the ordinance democratically, he said.

He also questioned that why should one resign if the court's verdicts are against the government. He also reminded that the court has ruled many verdicts against Chandrababu Naidu when he was the chief minister of the state.

"The government knew their powers which it posses and other systems have also limited powers what the government has, and all the institutions should function according to the constitution," Ambati Rambabu added.
