Coffee chain Tim Hortons is to reopen its store in Belfast city centre for takeaways from Monday.

The Canadian chain had reopened its drive-thrus in east Belfast and Glengormley earlier this month.

Its outlet on Fountain Street will be open for takeaways and deliveries in partnership with Deliveroo and Just Eat.

Customers will be allowed to come into the coffee shop, place an order, and collect their food and drinks.

But they will not be allowed to sit in.

Only contactless payment will be permitted although there will be no maximum spend.

The company said it has introduced new safety measures including temperature checks for employees before every shift, personal protective equipment for staff, Perspex screens at counters, one way systems in and out of every restaurant and signs to encourage social distancing.

The Belfast shop will be reopened along with several in Britain.

Kevin Hydes from the coffee chain said: "Over the past two weeks, in line with government guidelines, we have successfully re-opened seven Drive Thru lane only restaurants".

"We introduced a number of measures to ensure our teams and customers felt safe and the feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive," he said.

"The learning we have taken during this period has given us the confidence to re-open more restaurants and introduce more ways to serve our customers."
