Bauer Media has said there may be job losses

A Chesterfield radio station is set to be rebranded as part of major changes announced by its parent company.

Bauer Media, which owns Chesterfield's Peak FM, announced it will be closing some radio stations and rebranding others.

The restructure plan would see 10 radio stations axed due to the impact of the coronavirus crisis.

It has been confirmed that Peak FM is to have its name changed to Greatest Hits Radio.

Other stations included in Bauer's catalogue are East Midlands based station Gem and Lincs FM, which covers Lincolnshire.

Dee Ford, group managing director for Bauer Radio, said: “Audiences love and trust radio. Expanding the Hits Radio Brand Network will ensure listeners to these acquired stations benefit from multi-platform digital distribution meaning they can continue to broadcast in an increasingly competitive, digital and voice-activated world."

In the past week, Bauer Media has also revealed it is in talks to close, merge or sell 10 of its print titles, meaning that jobs may be lost.

The company said the publications, which include music magazine Q, would not be sustainable once the Covid-19 crisis is over.
